Mijas continues to be a benchmark when it comes to foreign residents living on the Costa del Sol.  This month, the municipality hosted the launch of the digital guide 'Support in Spain'. It is a website designed to quickly and effectively resolve the most frequent issues among British and other English speaking foreign residents. Health, social welfare and economic benefits are covered, among many other areas of interest.

The platform, promoted by the British Consulate in Malaga in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, is a non-profit organisation aimed at the entire British community over 50 years of age. It aims to bring information to foreign residents through the website where enquiries can be made in both English and Spanish. "From the Department of Foreigners we can only support this type of initiative that has such a positive impact on foreign residents in our municipality and the surrounding area” commented the Councilor for Foreign Residents, Roy Perez.

The presentation took place in La Cala, and was attended by foreign associations such as the Lions Club and Cudeca. A representative for the local council said ”It is important that this type of events take place in our municipality as we have one of the highest percentages of British residents in the province of Málaga, with almost 12,000 being retired”.

Foreign residents interested in resolving any issues can do so by visiting the website www.supportinspain.info.
